The design of the machine and the capsules involved multiple process phases:
Analysis : which involved defining the brand image, analyzing the brand, and choosing and studying a target group. This resulted in a requirement list
Ideation and conceptualization: based on the brand chosen and the requirements defined brainstorming was carried to reach different shapes and ideas that were refined into concepts
Mass production: the product was analyzed through different production perspectives, including material selection, patent analysis, technical drawings and a production plan with cost estimations
Commercialization: for selling the machine a marketing plan was created, together with package labels and a machine mock-up for presentingÂ
Evaluation: final considerations about the product and recommendations
During these stages, the disciplines within the group managed to collaborate in an interdisciplinary way to share knowledge and different areas of expertise. This way it was possible for the group to reach a richer end result in the multiple design phases than it would have been possible with only one discipline.
