Capsules

The capsules created to form the Typewriter system come in connected capsules of five. The user places the pack in the machine to brew coffee, and has to open the lid and slide the pack forward to brew the next cup.

Currently available are the flavors:

• Lungo Massimo

• Espresso Profondo

Sustainability

The greatest differential of the designed capsule when compared to others on the market is in sustainability. This is achieved my having the capsule shape designed in a way that reduced the amount of material used per capsule. In our system, the capsules come in five connected with a shared wall. This makes it possible to save material at the wall shared between connected capsules.

From volume calculations comparing a single capsule and the combined ones:

• Single capsule: 1654 mm^3 (from SolidWorks)

• Our set capsules: 7723 mm^3 (from SolidWorks)

• Per compartment: 1545 mm^3 (single capsule / 5)

• Material saved (as compared to the single capsule design) ~= 7%
