Lid

The lid of the machine is an integral part of the machine. It is responsible for puncturing the capsules from the top. It also pushes the capsules down onto the bottom needle. A handle can be used to open the lid and access the slider and the capsules. From here the capsules can be moved back and forth to select a particular capsule. After that the user closes the lid and the machine is ready to run.

The lid is held closed by two click joints that keep the lid closed when the machine is running. These also counteract the force of the pressure from the water in the capsules.

The needle that is attached to the lid hides away when the lid is opened. This is to prevent users accidently cutting themselves when the lid is open. A simple lever arm and a light spring are responsible for this action.
